Assignment 8A- Solving the Problem

  • After thinking hard about my past two ideas that I have written about.  I had decided that I was going to put the two of them together.  I had done my 4A assignment on an idea that could have an easier way of paying for food and having it brought to you instead of having to wait on a line along with being able to purchase future tickets.  In our 7A assignment, I had done it on sports betting being legalized.  For this idea to work 100%, it is going to need legalizing of sports betting legal in all states.
  • I would like to have a product that allows you to pay for and order food while you are at your seat.  Along with this, if sports betting can be legalized, I would want there to be an option to also be able to place bets.  While sports betting is not legal in all of the states in the U.S., I believe it would be able to start small in the states where it is legal.
    • I have two potential versions of this
      • My first version would be to install an iPad or Tablet looking item into the seats in the stadiums.
      • My second version would be to create an app on all devices that would be linked to the stadium itself.

  • The tablet in my opinion would be a lot more successful than the app.  Since it is placed in front of the customer, I think it will be able to bring in a lot more revenue since they will be more tempted to use it.  I think not having to get up and wait in lines will also be a major factor in this.  I do not think the app would be as successful as the actual device being installed into the seats because it is not in front of the customer for use.  Also, when people go to sporting events, a lot of times, they are there for the entire day for tailgating and lose battery on their devices.  The tablet device would be better because if the customers phone dies, they will still be able to use what has been in front of them the entire event.

    1. I like that you chose to stick with your original plan of the tablet. I remembering commenting on your idea suggesting the app was a way better idea, but I like your reasoning for the tablets. I still do believe you will face a giant hurdle in the price of buying all the tablets. Something to consider is if every seat gets a tablet or just certain seats that may lead to sports-goers paying extra for their tickets. In addition, I think when pitching the idea you can explain how installing the tablets is an investment and they can make their money back in X amount of time. This seems like an idea where venture capital money or some sort of larger investment would be necessary. Deal structuring with stadiums will also be interesting. I'm wondering how you could offer more value to them as a company when they could just buy all the tablets themselves and not need your company's help.

    2. What's up Bill,
I thought your economic opportunity idea is definetaly a need that many people have. I believe that your solution would be a great way to solve this problem, however I think having an app instead of a tablet would work much better. In todays world, everyone has a smartphone so the cost basis of making a app compared to getting a tablet in every seat. While, you believe that the tablet would attract more people to use this business, I think with the proper advertisement having an app would work much better.
